OBJECTIVE: To be able to identify fruits and vegetables using a variety of techniques.

Anticipatory Set (circle time)

Say hello to everyone and sing welcome song.

The Good Food Song

(Tune: "Old MacDonald Had A Farm")
Vegetables are good for me, EE I EE I O
And so I eat them happily, EE I EE I O
(Children take turns naming vegetables that they like)
With a carrot, carrot here, and a carrot, carrot there
Here a carrot, there a carrot
Everywhere a carrot, carrot.
Vegetables are good for me, EE I EE I O.

Guided Practice (zones)

Zone 1: Play Food – Fine Motor
At this station the children will work on putting the fruits and vegetables together. The children will also identify the item and the color.
Zone 2: Fine Motor Coloring & Cutting
Food Basket – The children will color and cut, glue and place fruit and vegetables in a basket.

The children will label (tact) fruit and vegetable cards while in play.

BOOK ACTIVITY– The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Zone 1: Picture Matching
The children will match fruit and vegetable pictures.
Zone 2: Caterpillar – Book Activity
The children will make a butterfly.
