Conversation and Public Speaking
We encountered a specific problem with our older learner, Evy. Evy likes to have an audience, and is immensely attracted to microphones. Unfortunately, once a month, there is an open microphone at church to express your feelings. Evy is attracted to the microphone like a moth to a flame, and while the comments he makes are usually very appropriate, he tends to stutter and repeat himself. Recognizing the motivation factor of the microphone and Evy's love of singing, we were prompted to try to use it as a tool to promote more appropriate conversational speech. As this is ongoing, we will update this page with our success. We found our karaoke machine at ACE Karaoke Corp, and they were wonderfully helpful in helping us decide which system was most appropriate for our needs.
