Label Emotions, Early
This is simple. If you see your learner exhibiting signs of an emotion, go out of your way to label it for him. Say things like, "Boy are you mad? Are you mad? What a MAD boy!" In our experience, "mad," "frustrated," "happy," and "sad" are the ones that come up earliest.
