For ideas on how to increase requesting, Kristine likes to have parents watch the Sesame Street skit, Elmo's World, and pay attention to the way Mr. Noodle and his brother, Mr. Noodle respond to Elmo. As Mr. Noodle (you) feigns misunderstanding, he increases Elmo's number of requests. Additionally, as Elmo (or your learner) is able to demonstrate that he or she is "smarter" than Mr. Noodle, Elmo learns self confidence. So Kristine's advice is "Be Mr. Noodle."
