Skate Boards and Scooters
- Fluid Campus Cruiser by Longskate.com (do a search under Fluid campus cruiser) .
This gem of a skate board is solidly built with a great surface and balance. The neat thing about this board is that there is a WHITEBOARD on the underside. So a creative team could do a lesson on the back, then reward by flipping the skate over and zooming around. What a cool toy! Another nice thing about skateboards is that they help our socially awkward learners feel "cool" and skilled. A real plus!
- Kick-Scooter by kickscooters.com. Why a scooter? Because for gravitationally unstable kids, the scooter is a great precurser to bicycle riding. When my oldest son couldn't (and wouldn't) ride a bike, a scooter let him "cheat" without losing face. So he could motor around without advertising his fear of wheels. And eventually (age 9), he became a bike rider. But he still loves his scooter.
Why do we like this particular scooter? It's very well made, reasonably priced and has a great ride. Not only is the customer service excellent, but the company is a strong supporter of our learners, and has donated their products to families in need. Great company, great product.
