The I Want Song
Here is the song we use to entice our children to produce longer requests. Like our other songs, we try to take a difficult or unmotivating task and make it more fun by setting it to music. We sing it in a silly way, and soon the tough task (e.g. producing language) becomes fun. Sometimes they just smile, but more often than not, they try to sing along. And the next time we ask them to say "I want," it's a little bit easier. The "I Want" Song

Sung to the tune of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah
Lyrics:
I want (Pizza, etc)!
I want (Pizza, etc)!
I want (Pizza, etc),I want (Pizza, etc),I want (Pizza, etc)!
This is a whole lot more fun than saying "Say I want Pizza!" or whatever it is you are teaching them to request. It is REALLY fun if the whole family sings it together and plays around with it. It breaks the routine. What can I say? We believe in silliness.
